NAWMBA Boston Wants YOU!

NAWMBA Boston Board and Volunteer recruitment is open!  We are seeking volunteers to lead and participate in several areas. This is an exciting opportunity to gain non-profit experience, work with Greater Boston-area leaders, as well as with leaders from the National leadership that will impact the future of NAWMBA at a local and national level.

Executive Officers and Committee Director Benefits and Commitment:

  • Complimentary membership for the duration of your term.
  • Complimentary admission to select NAWMBA Boston events.
  • Invitations to the Leadership Retreats.
  • Opportunities for leadership development and exposure to Non-Profit organizational structure and operations.
  • Approximately 5-12 hours a month on NAWMBA-related activities; (varies with Committees and goals)
  • Minimum one term (2 years) commitment.  

General Volunteer Benefits and Commitment:

  • (1) year complimentary NAWMBA Boston membership.
  • Volunteers work independently and remotely based on their own schedules.
  • Volunteers may expect to spend approximately 5-7 hours a month on NAWMBA-related activities; (depending on committee goals and Committee Director).
  • Complimentary admission to select NAWMBA Boston events.
  • Minimum 6 mos – 1 year commitment.

Prior experience with non-profit, volunteer management, or development desirable, but not required.

 

Development Committee Director

Reports to: Executive Officers of the Board

Job Description:

The Development Committee Director is a volunteer position and participates in Board of Directors meetings.  The Development Committee Director will be responsible for a number of activities related to the fundraising and development needs of the Boston Professional Chapter.  Committee Directors can expect to spend approximately 10-15 hours a month on NAWMBA activities as well as associated events and monthly Board meeting attendance.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Leads NAWMBA Boston’s development committee and drives overall development strategy.
  • Collaborate with other Committees on developing and implementing development strategies and events.
  • Research and create fundraising & sponsorship plans.
  • Recruit or identify committee and/or board members.
  • Partners with community leaders and organizations in order to reach fundraising goals via sponsorships, donations, and/or partnerships.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with area media, government, community, and other professional affinity organizations.

Marketing Committee Director

Reports to: Executive Officers of the Board

Job Description:  

The Marketing Committee Director is a volunteer position and participates in Board of Directors meetings.  The Marketing Committee Director will be responsible for a number of activities related to marketing and communications needs of the Boston Professional Chapter.  Committee Directors can expect to spend approximately 10-15 hours a month on NAWMBA activities as well as associated events and monthly Board meeting attendance.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Leads NAWMBA Boston’s marketing strategy and drives overall marketing initiatives.
  • Develops marketing & communications plans with measurable goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates with other Committees on developing and implementing marketing strategies.
  • Responsible for creating marketing and communications campaigns including: collateral materials (for events, as needed), maintaining website presence, social media outlets, press & media activities.  
  • Responsible for submitting annual budget for marketing & communications initiatives and activities to Finance Committee.

 

Membership Committee Director

Reports to: Executive Officers of the Board

Job Description:  The membership committee is responsible for all aspects of membership-related activities and partners with appropriate committees to accomplish it’s goals.  

Main responsibilities include:

  • Leads Chapter’s membership recruitment, retention and engagement activities and plans.
  • Responsible for: membership drives and associated activities to increase and maintain membership levels, welcome emails and packets to new members, recruit new and retain existing members, solicit member feedback, seek new opportunities to promote membership, budget for new member activities.  
  • Collaborates with other Committees on developing and implementing membership related strategies.
  • Recruit volunteers for NAWMBA.
  • Maintain membership data such as renewal rates, and/or reasons for non-renewal, membership statistics such as industry of business, level of experience, etc.
  • Research and feedback on membership benefits and competitor organizations.

 

Events and Programming Committee Director

Reports to: Executive Officers of the Board

Job Description:  The Events and Programming committee is responsible for all aspects of events and programming related activities and partners with appropriate committees to accomplish it’s goals.  

Main responsibilities include:

  • Collaborates with other Committees on developing and implementing events and programming needs.
  • Recruits NAWMBA volunteers.
  • Creates engaging programming based on member feedback and Boston’s business environment.
  • Responsible for planning and executing events including: submit budget and proposal of events and programming activities.   
  • Recruits committee volunteers, securing venues and speakers, including: budgets, food and beverage,
  • Debrief of events and feedback.
  • Maintains data on events such as attendance and registration.

Prior experience with non-profit, volunteer management, or event management/execution desirable, but not required.

General Volunteers

Reports to: Respective Committee Director

Job Description:

Volunteer with NAWMBA Boston to make an impact and statement that you are committed to advancing women to leadership roles as well as invest in yourself to enhance your resume and business skills.  

Our volunteers can choose from four committees to augment or develop new skills!  Volunteers can expect to spend approximately 5-10 hours a month (depending upon committee) working on NAWMBA-related activities.  Volunteers receive complimentary admission to select NAWMBA Boston events and (1) year of free NAWMBA Boston membership.

At the direction of each Committee Director, volunteer duties vary, but may include:  

Membership – This committee is responsible for all aspects of membership related activities and partners with appropriate committees to accomplish it’s goals.  Activities include: membership drives, welcome emails and packets to new members, recruit new and retain existing members, solicit member feedback, seek new opportunities to promote membership, budget for new member activities.  Maintain data on membership such as renewal rates, and/or reasons for non-renewal.

Development –  The Development Committee will be responsible for a number of activities related to the fundraising and development needs of the Chapter.  Collaborate with other Committees on developing and implementing development strategies and events as needed. Partner with community leaders and organizations in order to reach fundraising goals via sponsorships, donations and/or partnerships.

Board of Directors

Job Description:  

We are a working Board where each Board member chooses a committee to work with  and provide leadership. Committees include: Membership, Marketing, Events & Programming, and Development.

Time commitment is approximately 10-15 hours a month, includes one monthly Board meeting.  Meetings are monthly, generally with every other month telephonically.  We ask for a commitment of one term (2 years) where possible and attendance of at minimum 50% of in-person Board meetings.  

NAWMBA Boston Board members are expected to contribute and participate in Board meetings, fundraising, strategic planning & implementation, and a variety of other tasks, as needed. We value Board members who are comfortable with “diving-in” on various projects and strong connections to Boston-area businesses to further our partnerships and collaborations.

Prior experience with “working” boards, strategic planning, non-profit leadership desired, but not required.

Advisory Board Members

Job Description:

Advisory Board members participate in NAWMBA Boston’s annual Board meeting in May.  During the term may be called upon to provide strategic guidance and expertise to help NAWMBA Boston’s mission.  We ask for a commitment of one term (2 years) where possible.

We value past experience with professional organizations and strong connections to Boston-area businesses to further our partnerships and collaborations.
