Susan Simone Kang – President 

Susan Simone KangSusan A. Simone Kang received B.A., magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany in 1992, where she attended the English Honors program. She received a J.D. with a Specialization in International Legal Affairs from Cornell Law School in 1999 and was the recipient of the Melvin I. Pitt memorial scholarship. She received her LL.M. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 2009, its inaugural year, and was the recipient of the 2008 Geraldine Ferraro Scholarship from the National Organization of Italian American Women. She was the Lead Symposium Editor of the Cornell International Law Journal, organizing a symposium entitled “The International Criminal Court: Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity” and was the Vice Chancellor for the Cornell Law School Moot Court Competition; 1998-9, and the Co-Facilitator of the Cornell Women’s Law Coalition in 1998-9.  After graduating law school, Susan worked in private practice in mergers and acquisitions, international corporate finance transactions, and multi-jurisdictional bankruptcies for nine years. In November 2009, Susan assumed the role of Program Director of the LL.M. Program in International Law at the Fletcher School.  She was also the Lecturer of Legal Research, Writing and Oral Advocacy and the Fletcher Coach of its Jessup International Moot Court Team. Currently, Susan is the Director of Graduate Legal Education and International Programs at Boston College Law School, managing the International Visiting Scholars Program, the LL.M. Master of Laws Program, and Boston College Law School’s international student exchange relationships. As an Adjunct Professor, Susan teaches “Introduction to the U.S. Legal System”, and “Legal Reasoning, Research and Writing.” She is also the Co-Director of the BC Law Summer Institute: Foundations of U.S. Law and Practice, in which she teaches.

Susan is a member of the New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut Bars and speaks Italian, French and Spanish.  She is the mother of beautiful Alessandro Li Kang, aged 2½ years, stepmom to three wonderful children, Joey, Audrey and Oscar, and wife to Andrew Kang, J.D., LICSW.  Susan is available for any NAWMBA Boston related inquiries at: susan.simonekang@nawmbaboston.org

 

Jenny Robertson – Executive Vice President (Interim) & VP of Finance

Jenny Robertson, Interim Executive Vice President and VP of Finance Jenny joined the NAWMBA Boston Professional Chapter in 2013 and served on the National planning committee for the 2013 National Conference. Passionate about community involvement, Jenny has served on several non-profit boards and is active in Boston-area professional associations. Jenny earned her MBA from the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, completed her Bachelors degree in Linguistics from the University of California Santa Cruz, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and French. As a wealth management, trust and estates professional with 14+ years of experience in investment advisory and professional fiduciary services, Jenny administered estate settlements, managed gifting programs, and portfolios of trust assets ranging from securities to diverse portfolios of trust-owned real estate.  She holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation, is currently a real estate salesperson at Boston City Properties, and is obtaining the Certified Financial Planner ® designation.  Feel free to contact Jenny for any NAWMBA Boston inquiries at: jenny.robertson@nawmbaboston.org.

 

Corrie Freudenstein –Vice President of Administration

Corrie Freudenstein, VP of AdministrationCorrie joined the board in 2015 as the VP of Administration. Prior to joining the Boston Professional Chapter of NAWMBA, Corrie served as the President of her Student Chapter at the University of Connecticut, while perusing her MBA.

Corrie has been the Director of Marketing and Communications for Brokers’ Service Marketing Group, a Life Insurance Brokerage General Agency in Providence, RI, since October 2014. Prior to this role Corrie worked for the Global Direct Marketing Division of Brady Corporation in Branford, CT.In addition to her MBA from University of Connecticut with concentrations in Marketing and Information Systems Management, Corrie also holds a bachelor’s degree from the Northeastern University in Marketing and Business Management, as well as her PMP certification. Caroline Englund – Director of Events & Programming

Caroline Englund, Director of DevelopmentCaroline joined NAWMBA in 2014 as the Chapter Vice-President for Suffolk University’s Student Chapter. In 2015, she became the Director of Program and Education of the Boston Chapter. Caroline earned her BS in Business and Management from the School of Management Fribourg in Switzerland. After her bachelor’s, Caroline worked as the Assistant Manager for a small consulting firm and then served as the Director of a school that specialized in accounting and finance. Caroline moved to Boston to complete her MBA at Suffolk University in 2015 and also pursued an internship as the Assistant Director Marketing for a consulting firm working for the hospitality industry. Believing in the adage “Where there is a will, there is a way,” Caroline discovered her passion for strategic management and business development while pursuing her MBA. Additionally, her event planning experience has allowed her to become Director of Events at several nonprofit associations in the Boston area. Amy Foley – Director of Membership 

Amy Foley, Director of Membership Amy joined NAWMBA in 2012 as the Chapter President for Northeastern University’s student chapter. In 2013, she served as the National Student Director, leading a group of Regional Directors. Joining the Boston Chapter in 2014, Amy now serves at the Director of Membership for the organization.While in business school, Amy discovered her love for consumer products and retail. She completed her internship at Ocean Spray Cranberries and is currently a Financial Analyst at New Balance supporting the US Wholesale sales organization.

Amy received her BA in Arts Administration from Simmons College in 2009. In 2013, she received her master’s degree in Finance and Management from Northeastern University’s D’Amore McKim School of Business.

 

Marlena Mathews – Director of Marketing

Marlena Mathews, Director of MarketingMarlena joined NAWMBA as a student member in 2013 when she was a MBA candidate.  During this time, she served as the Region 1 Student Director and the Marketing Committee Lead for the 2014 National Conference.Marlena has worked in various fields in marketing and events during her professional career.  Currently she is the Senior Marketing Specialist for Dining Alliance and its three sister group purchasing organization (GPO) companies.

In 2013 she joined the Boston Professional Chapter of NAWMBA and became the Marketing Committee Director in 2014.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Business Management and a master’s degree from Curry College in Business Administration.

 

Past President – Ellen Keiley

Ellen Keiley, Past President

Ellen is the Past President of the Boston chapter of Women MBAs. Ellen is President of EMK Consulting Group, a provider of marketing, business development, coaching and consulting, and public relations services for individuals and professional services organizations.  She has 20+ years’ experience in professional services and has served in business development, marketing, and PR roles for both Boston-based and international firms and companies.

Ellen is a speaker and writer and has frequently appeared on television and radio programs. She was the President of the National Association of Women MBAs Boston Professional Chapter, serves as a member of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council Executive Committee, the Greater Boston Chamber Women’s Advisory Board, and is an active member of several other professional associations and non-profits.
